Communion

Edible paper, brass nails, & viewer participation
9' x 5'
The names (and the dates of birth and death when available) from the graves in the Old Burial Ground in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA are impressed onto the hundreds of pieces of edible paper. Viewers were invited to eat the paper, to commune with the individual, to reflect on who they may have been, and what their life may have been like. The piece attempts to make an intimate connection, past the anonymity of grave markers.
